The poker industry is often perceived to be a very competitive and cut-throat environment, but on 12 November, “Rounders” and “card sharks” from all over Asia put aside their rivalry at the tables and came together in a show of solidarity for a meaningful common cause. The players joint hands with prominent industry leaders Hong Kong Poker League, Hong Kong Poker House, Wynn Macau, PokerStars.net, All-In Entertainment and Sun Entertainment Group (the producers of the Poker King movie) to raise funds for charity.

The effort was organised by regional poker lifestyle magazine Baller and was the first of its kind in the industry. At the event, Baller celebrated its official launch in 7 countries, as well as the launch of its charity fundraising campaign, “All In Against Abuse”.

“All In Against Abuse” aims to raise awareness about the different types of abuse that unfortunately take place in society on an everyday basis. The beneficiary charities are Hong Kong-based Against Child Abuse, Animals Asia and The Searchlight Project.

“It’s not just the officials that need to act. We can all do our bit.” said ambassador for Animals Asia, actress Maggie Q. The poker community did their bit – and in style. Held at exclusive private club M1NT, the charity fundraiser party was an exciting night out on the town, with fun activities and fabulous prizes. There was also poker workshops conducted by professionals, where guests learnt more about the exciting and complex game of poker.
